| 29–31st August Steam Gala | |||
| 4-6-0s took centre stage at this years’ NNR Autumn Steam Gala. The undoubted star of the show was 61306 Mayflower. The B1 was sold to a new owner in August and arrived at the NNR (which will be the loco’s base for the next 12 months) in time to be added to the gala line up. Visiting from the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway was GWR designed Manor 7820 Dinmore Manor. While brought in for the gala, the Swindon built 4-6-0 could be seen at the head of NNR trains throughout August. The final visitor was Black 5 45305, which could be seen double headed with resident Black 5 44767 George Stephenson on several occasions during the event. The only remaining 4-6-0 yet to get a mention is B12 8572, which after a much needed spruce up, was a sight to behold as it worked together with its immaculately turned out LNER stable mate. The final two locos in action were both BR Standards; 9F 92203 Black Prince, recently back from overhaul, and 4MT Mogul 76084. | |||

| 14th June Diesel Gala | |||
| This year's Summer Diesel Gala took on a mainly green theme as the event's organiser, the Weybourne Traction Group, looked to commemorate the closure of the line in 1964. Star guest (and the main reason for my visit) was Class 40 D306 Atlantic Conveyor, evoking scenes from when the first members of the class took over the top link turns from the 'Britannia's' on the Great Eastern main line in the late 1950s. Also visiting were Class 20 D8059 (from the Severn Valley Railway) and Class 14 D9531 (from the East Lancs Railway). In action from the home fleet were: Class 08 D3940; Class 31 D5631; Class 37 D6732. | |||

| 5–6th April 60s Weekend/Anniversary of Closure | |||
| On the 6th April 1964, the infamous 'Beeching Axle' fell on the M&GN's branch line from it's former engineering base at Melton Constable to Sheringham. That was suppose to be that, but part of the line was selected for preservation and today forms part of the North Norfolk Railway. To commemorate 50 years since the line's closure the NNR held a '60s Weekend' based around the 1964 timetable, featuring typical motive power from the final years of the line, including a ubiquitous Metro-Cammell DMU, a Brush Type 2 diesel and Standard 4MT 76084 (renumbered as 76034, one of the only members of the class to be recorded working over the line in BR days). | |||
