23–25th September 40th Anniversary Steam Gala

The Severn Valley Railway's annual September Steam Gala took a distinctive Great Western theme this year to mark the 40th Anniversary of preserving the railway. The line up consisted of no fewer than 11 GWR locomotives (six of which were especially hired in for the event). Locos featured were (deep breath for the Great Western contingent), Modified Hall; 7903 Foremarke Hall, Manor; 7802 Bradley Manor, "new" Mogul; 9351, 14XX; 1450 (including auto coach 178), 56XX; 6619, Large Prairie; 5164, Pannier tanks; 1369, 9466, 1501, 5764 and 7714. The GWR theme was only supplemented by LMS Stannier mogul 42968, which as well as working on Saturday, also worked the night trains with SR West Country Class 34036 Westward Ho (aka 34027 Taw Valley), which was making its final appearance before major overhaul.
